How to Iron & Stitch Your Patch

Detailed temperature settings, barrier cloth advice, dry-heat rules, and special fabric sewing guidance for maximum durability.

01

Position & Barrier Cloth Coverage

Place the patch right-side up on target garment. Cover top of patch with a thin white cotton cloth to protect silk embroidery threads.

📄 Alternative Barrier: If no cotton cloth is handy, a clean sheet of A4 printer paper works great!
02

Temperature Setting (~150°C)

Set household iron to Cotton/Linen setting (approx. 150°C / 300°F). Press firmly straight down for 20-25 seconds without sliding.

🚫 Turn OFF Steam: Always use dry heat mode. Do not use steam function.
03

Edge Sewing & Special Fabric Rules

For garments subjected to frequent machine washing, stitch a few securing needle loops along the border after ironing.

🧶 Special Fabrics (Hand-Sew Only): Sweaters, leather, lace/mesh, silk, or rough textured fabrics MUST be hand-sewn.
04

Dry Heat Pro Tip & Cooling

Ensure garment and patch remain 100% dry during ironing. Allow 5 minutes to cool completely before moving garment.

🧼 Washing Care: Turn garment inside out. Wait 24 hours before first cold water wash.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is dry heat required during ironing?
Thermal TPU glue bonds through dry heat (~150°C). Water or steam creates a vapor barrier that degrades adhesion.
Q: What if I don't have a barrier cotton cloth?
A plain white sheet of A4 printer paper or parchment paper works as an effective heat-protective barrier layer.
Q: What fabrics require hand-stitching instead of ironing?
Sweaters, knitwear, leather, lace/mesh, silk, or heavily textured fabrics should be hand-sewn along the border to prevent heat damage.
Q: How should I care for my garment after ironing?
Allow the patch to cool completely for 5 minutes. Turn the garment inside out and wait 24 hours before first cold water machine wash.
